We finally made it to the Top

Tonight we went to the top floor of the Eiffel Tower. Ten years ago we were not allowed to go the very top. We found out tonight that this was because it closes before the other floors. It is not a very pleasant experience. Unless you enjoy being crammed like cattle with thousands of other Americans enjoyable. But it is requiste, and does hammer home the feeling that you are in Paris. The view is pretty good too ;>)

Our first Parisian Meal

For dinner we took the Metro to the Champs-Elysees and ate Mussels at the same place we ate at 10 years ago. The have changed the out door seating a bit, but everthing else is exactly the same. They were delish! Darren took pictures of our food among other things, but he had his camera set to "fancy-pants" RAW mode and we do not have the software necessary to view or edit them. We will publish them later.

The real Paris Hilton

The real Paris Hilton is beautiful! This is our view from the balacony in our hotel room. It is from that very balcony that I am blogging this. Ain't life grand! I am looking at this view now! YeeHa!

Husband's Note: Punkerdeux was drinking a fine 5Euro Bordeaux whilst typing this.

C'est Arrive'

Today we arrived in Paris. Our flight was not too bad considering eight hours crammed in couch is generally equivalent to having all your head hairs pulled out one by one. We must say that Air France gets our nod of approval. Any time you are offered a apertif before, a digestif after, and a basket of bread during the meal on an airplane, you should be pleased. Anyway this is Darren on the RER B Line from Charles de Gaulle to the Hilton Paris Hotel.

RETRO-POST: We took the RER into the city. If only all the US cities would be as easy to navigate. It cost us about 8Euros each for what would have amounted to a $60 cab ride. It was straight forward and easy to navigate as with all European trains. We also cleared customs in about 20min. Which if you follow this story to its conclusion, you will find in a far cry from Hartsfield-Jackson Airport.

Pictures of our stay in Paris, part une

This is a slideshow of our first day and night in France. We took the train from Charles de Gaulle, checked into the Hilton Paris and walked around the Eiffel Tower. Taking the Metro to the Champs-Elysees, we ate mussels at the same place that we ate at on our honeymoon 10 years previous. After purchasing some wine from the marche, we drank on our balcony until dark. It was then time to do the thing that we were denied 10 years ago, go the the top of the Eiffel tower.
Perhaps you would like to view them on a map.
